Research Project:
An Indenter for the Investigation of Soft Tissue Mechanical Properties
of Trans Tibial Prosthesis Users (TÜBİTAK MİSAG-183)
Project Staff:
Asst. Prof. Dr. Ergin Tönük, Ph. D. (Principal Investigator, Middle
East Technical University)
Assoc. Prof. Dr. A. Sabri Ateşalp (Gülhane Military Medical Academy)
Asst. Prof. Dr. Cemil Yıldız (Gülhane Military Medical Academy)
Prostheses & Orthoses Expert Necmeddin Daştan (Gülhane Military
Medical Academy)
Research Assistant Cengiz Heycan (Middle East Technical University)
Aims:
To design and construct an in vivo soft
tissue testing equipment to assess soft tissue mechanical properties
To obtain mechanical material properties of soft tissues to simulate soft
tissue mechanical behavior
To help identifying prosthetic fit problems of trans tibial amputees
To construct a realistic finite element model of mechanical interaction
of residual limb soft tissues with prosthetic socket
To understand current prosthetic fit principles and suggest new socket
design protocols
